Mathematics

At Sefton High School, our teachers are passionate about teaching mathematics and have high expectations of their students. Further, they are confident with the quality of content that they deliver and ensure every student is supported and has an opportunity to fulfil their full potential.

The Mathematics Department instil the importance of mathematics in students daily lives. As students appreciate the analytical skills that they gain through their mathematical journey at Sefton High School, they will find these skills invaluable to any career path they wish to pursue.

There are ample tools we use to teach and help our students learn mathematics. These include the use of technological applications/software such as Geogebra, DESMOS and Excel to assist our students to further develop a greater understanding in Mathematics.

Students are also provided with opportunities to extend their interest in Mathematics through activities, clubs and competitions such as the Computational and Algorithmic Thinking competition, Australian Mathematics Competition, the Australasian Problem-Solving Olympiad, The University of New South Wales ICAS competition, Coding Club, STEM challenges and enrichment activities both within and beyond the classroom.
